About Build Project Lab
Build Project Lab is a practical library of home-improvement and construction-planning tools. The goal is simple: turn measurements into understandable quantities without hiding the assumptions behind the result.
How our calculators are built
Most material quantity calculations begin with area or volume. We convert dimensions into consistent units, apply the relevant geometric formula, and then convert the result into the purchasing unit users actually need—such as cubic yards, tons, bags, boxes, pieces, or gallons.
Why assumptions are visible
There is rarely one universal density, package yield, waste percentage, installation depth, or labor rate. Instead of presenting a single number as certain, our tools expose important assumptions so you can replace them with the product specification or project requirement you have.
How to use the results
Use the calculator as a planning and comparison tool. Before a large purchase or construction activity, verify the result against the manufacturer’s coverage, supplier density, package size, project drawings, local requirements, and qualified professional advice where appropriate.
What we do not claim
Our calculators do not replace structural engineering, surveying, building-code review, contractor takeoffs, soil analysis, or manufacturer installation instructions. A calculator can estimate quantity; it cannot inspect the site.
Corrections and feedback
If you find a calculation issue or have a useful suggestion, please use the contact page. We want formulas and assumptions to be understandable and correctable rather than opaque.
